Poem Should we Simplify Love by Lorna Cameron

Should we Simplify Love

What is that heart-pounding thing?
That delicacy that makes us sing.
Some folks jump into the fiery ring
Oblivious of that incredulous sting!

Is love really about ourselves?
Are we afraid to be left on the shelf.
Isn’t love confusing?
And sometimes quite amusing

Can we simplify love?
Should it be as peaceful as a dove.
Is it possible to define it?
Should we even refine it?

What happens when love runs out?
Is cupid mad to scream and shout!
Could the answer be in loving oneself?
Are we the only ones on the shelf?

In posing these questions
I wanted to see.
Is there anyone out there who feels like me?
Isn’t LOVE what you want it to be!
