Nostalgia
Like dewdrops on petals
Cold earth underfoot
We get all that we wish for
With the right intent
Like Pegasus wings
And rest when we’re weary
Adventure did spring
From the depths of my dreary
Like rainbow sherbet
Simple pleasures of youth
Nostalgia brings joy
With old friends and new

Unspoken
Waking up fresh in the morning
Gracing the waters edge
Reminds me of something unspoken
The memories soothing my head
Lighting the candle of glory
Stepping out head held up high
Dealing with truth in your own way
Touching the infinite sky
Come to the island of vision
Sail in the seas of your dreams
Climb the mountains of freedom
Free yourself, fly with great ease!

In the country
In the country it’s plain to see
That life is much better, than living on the street
The pheasants that daunder across the farm lane
Oblivious of time and car wheels that await them!
In wintertime it’s much colder than cold!
Though sunset and sunrise a joy to behold
Horses as neighbours a beautiful sight
Frogs and bats visit late at night
Butterflies and bees, in abundance, add colour
Though spiders are bigger and midgies a bother!
The peace and tranquility is a treat to be savoured
But the mice in your bedroom can give you the shivers!
From the birthing of lambs, to the deer that prance close
The smell of pure air and the friendliest of folks
The stars that are brighter and the moon that’s so bold
In the country with loved ones, my mountain of gold.

Duty or Beyond
Duty or beyond?
A doctor who smiles?
With sparkly eyes
I don’t know her name
But what a surprise!
Hospital in two weeks
Scan in three Days!
This Lady is good!
With potential to amaze
Research, I say?
She laughs at my joke
I will put right those wrongs
On a more serious note!
That doctor fell ill
Not long after that
Twelve months in bed
Not feeling less crap!
Then one fine day
A letter appeared
The research I’d asked for
I’ve now been accepted!

Listen
Listen
Day by day
Month by month
Year by year
I lie here
In agony
Alone
It seems
Doctors, nurses, OT’s, physios, consultants
They come and they go
Some are just slow
And some plainly don’t know
Their comments, assumptions
Made me question
MY REALITY
MY INSTINCTS!
For years they led me to believe
That black was the new EVERYTHING!
MY FURY
Could ENGULF me
COLOUR is my EVERYTHING!
IT was always PLAIN to SEE

Prayer - The last Resort
Prayer - The last Resort?
Everyone looks worried
Thirty two symptoms
I can hardly see them
I’m not sure who they are
I can’t move
They say it’s not cancer
I refused the morphine
My brain is dead
ENOUGH!
Please God help me to get better
Please send all the angels you can
To heal, guide, support and protect us
I can’t bear to see their worried little faces
They are becoming ill too!
I’m not sure how long I can hold on
So I’m thinking that this is an
EMERGENCY!
Thank you, Thank you for everything

The bones of it!
The bones of it!
When something feels bad
That’s supposed to feel good
When right feels wrong
And nothing works like it should
When words are jumbled
And nights are long
Be patient and humble
As dusk will meet dawn
When people are angry
And crowds are a bore
Seek solitary confinement
To find out the score!
